Photographing Democratically: An Exploration of William Eggleston’s “Guide”
William Eggleston, the father of fine art color photography, also pioneered a new way of looking at and understanding the world, and his influence on contemporary photography has been profound. “Guide,” his first photobook, shocked the art world with both its color images and banal, ordinary subject matter. The workshop will consist of an in-depth study of “Guide” as well as a photography excursion and walk in which we will put Eggleston’s concepts into practice in order to expand our photographic vision, breadth and depth.
