In this class, we will explore techniques to make your subjects comfortable and bring out their true essence through the art of choreography and improvisation. Drawing inspiration from the masters of portrait photography, such as Irving Penn, Walter Iooss, Carrie Mae Weems, Rineke Dijkstra, Luis Alberto Rodriguez, Dana Scruggs, Richard Renaldi, and others, we will analyze their iconic portraits and learn from their approach to capturing the essence of their subjects.
Additionally, we will delve into art history topics like contrapposto and chiaroscuro, exploring their influence on composition and posing. We will discuss the importance of charisma and people skills in establishing a connection with your subjects. Through practical exercises and hands-on shooting sessions, you will discover innovative ways to bring out the unique qualities and movement of your subjects. These techniques will result in comfortable poses that capture the true essence of the person being photographed.
