Cindy Sherman, Francesca Woodman and Lucas Samaras have posed in front of their own cameras to create work. But are these pieces autobiographical or are they an act for the camera? Through lectures and class discussions, we will explore the different ways that artists use the self as subject, object or both.

This course is an invitation to turn the lens to oneself, to discover what happens when we use photography as a tool to investigate our body and our psyche, as well as the possibilities of representation that arise from this act.
