Graciela Iturbide’s photographic work is the visible thread for this new workshop.
Her images are a source of inspiration and a great example to cultivate and amplify
our own photographic vision.
We will have two theory classes in which we will see and do a comparison study of
her work, looking closely at specific images to question and explore her approach to
image making.
Departing from this immersion in her work each one of the participants will go out
to different routes of their own choosing, trusting their own subjective views, a sight
charged with personal experience, from that which makes us individuals and enable
us to discover. Each way of looking is unique and we want to give us the taste of
discovering personal visual worlds through intuition and imagination. To tap into
our direct influences and those influences that ride underneath our consciousness
and fill our sight with sense and emotion. It is a workshop to take that which is
fortuitous and to embrace the randomness of experience, qualities that could be at
the core of our image making.
The third class will be an open conversation about our images, with a couple of
strategies to encourage the discussion in a creative and supportive manner.
